"Neighbourhood Heroes" are people from whom we can all learn. They are "teachers" or role models who have:
- Done something small or big (usually consistently and over time) that made a positive difference for an individual or group of people -- This
must have been the sort of action that "average" people could learn from and copy.
- Inspired others to take action and reach their own true potential.
- Overcame a physical, emotional or other obstacle and in so doing, became a role model for others who face a similar challenge.
|
- Compliment when they feel like criticizing.
- Stand their ground when they feel like giving up.
- Stay when they feel like running.
- Give when they feel like talking.
- Approach when they feel like avoiding.
